Welcome to an Unstoppable Moment out on the trail.
I want to offer you a different perspective around exercise or movement, and when it’s the “right” time to get out and move.
There’s a mindset around exercise that sounds like this:
- “I have to work out.”
- “I need to burn this off.”
- “I should exercise because I feel uncomfortable in my body.”
Did you feel the heaviness in that?
Obligation.
Shame.
Pressure.
That energy creates dread. It feels like dragging your feet through sand. And when movement is tied to shame, it never feels light.
Take a deep breath with me.
Inhale fresh air.
Exhale the old perspective.
Now try this:
- “I get to move.”
- “I get to exercise.”
- “I get to honor the body I’ve been blessed with.”
Feel the difference?
For example, if you told me I had to go to the gym, it would instantly feel like an obligation. Like pressure. Like something I should do. But I’ve discovered movement I truly love, being out on the trail, hiking, breathing fresh air, and now I get to move. I look forward to it. It energizes me instead of draining me.
When you honor something, you look forward to caring for it. You treat it with respect. You nourish it. You move it — not because you’re punishing it, but because you value it. That shift changes everything. Movement becomes a blessing instead of a burden. It becomes fuel for your day. It energizes you for the things you’re living for — the people you love, the purpose you’re pursuing, the life you’re building. Instead of staying stuck in obligation, you create forward momentum. You get to move because you are honoring your body.
So, I challenge you to switch the perspective. Write it down if you journal:
“I honor the body I’ve been blessed with.”
And let that be the reason you step forward today. That’s where true freedom begins.
